Officials with Kendall Young Library announced on Thursday that the library will operate on a limited service starting June 1. The library has been closed since March 17 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kendall Young Library director Ketta Lubberstedt Arjes said both the board and the library have developed a phased reopening of the library. The first phase of the library reopening is to provide indoor pick-up and curbside pick-up. Patrons entering the building will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer. Patrons will also be allowed 15 minutes in the building per visit. To avoid waiting, you are asked to call ahead at 832-9100 to schedule an appointment. If possible, please reserve your items prior to your appointment. The materials will be ready for you when you arrive. The checkout desks and new material displays will be open but further browsing will not be allowed.
Other things patrons need to know is that the computers will not be available. You are asked to please contact the library’s reference staff for assistance with printing and copies being made. Children under the age of 16 must be with a parent at all times. Kendall Young Library will be open reduced hours Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to allow for extra cleaning.
