The Webster City Hotel Motel Tax Commission on Wednesday afternoon made their recommendations for funding in the latest round of grant applications. The commission recommended a $1500 application to the Sons of the American Legion for $1500 for a fly in lunch at the Webster City Municipal Airport. The Jane Young House Foundation request of $5505 for improvements to the front and back porch of the Jane Young House was voted down however it was decided to fund the project at $4000 which was approved. By a vote of 4 to 1, the commission moved to fund the art sculpture project at city hall plaza for $5000 was approved. The commission voted to award $15,000 to Lift WC for the project of reinstalling working bathrooms at the Elks Building that is under renovation. TTMM Promotions doing business as the Hamilton County Speedway will receive $6000 in grant funds for the marketing of the sixth annual Summit USRA Nationals set for later this season. The request from Legacy Learning Boone River Valley for $5000 for social media marketing was approved. The commission accepted the request from the Wilson Brewer Historic Park Committee for $8000 for renovation work on the first courthouse of Hamilton County. The request from the Career Ag Academy for funding their proposed academy at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds at $20,000 was approved by a vote 4 to 0 with member Kyle Swon abstaining from the vote. In another matter, the commission voted to grant an extension to the Webster City Canoe Access project. All of the requests approved by the commission will be forwarded to the Webster City City Council for final approval on July 15.
