A gas leak was investigated by Eagle Grove authorities on Tuesday afternoon. The call was received shortly before 1:00 p.m.after a fencing crew struck a gas line at North Hewitt and NW First Street. Eagle Grove city administrator Bryce Davis said residents in the area near the leak were asked to evacuate while a larger perimeter was asked to shelter in place during the incident. A shelter was opened for those who could not return to their homes. Crews from Mid American Energy were able to stop the leak at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Crews from the Eagle Grove Fire,Police, EMS and Public Works Departments, Wright County Sheriff’s Office Wright County Emergency Management, Eagle Grove School District and Rotary Assisted Living provided transporation and shelter services.
