Stratford man charged after Wednesday evening standoff with law offficers.

The Hamilton County Communications Center at 6:47 Wednesday evening received a 911 call from 1472 350th Street near Stratford. The caller reported that their 33 year old son was out of control and possibly armed. When Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene, the male had fired shots in the residence and had barricaded himself. Due to the circumstance, the Iowa State Patrol TAC (Tactical Armed Command) and negotiator was called in to assist. Shortly before miidnight,the suspect was taken into custody.
Authorities arrested 33 year old Christopher Steven Fawcett. Fawcett was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Use of a Firearm,Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Assisting the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were members of the Ellsworth Jewell Stanhope Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Unit, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Stratford Fire and Rescue.
