When the Spencer Tigers Football team visits Webster City this Friday for the 2nd game of the 2018 Iowa High School Football Season, the Tigers will be led by a native son making his first return, as coach, to the town he was raised in.
Jim Tighe is a 1987 graduate of Webster City High School where he played football under his father; longtime Lynx, Iowa Falls-Alden, and St. Edmond coach Dick Tighe. The elder tie holds the record for most wins in Iowa high school football history and ranks in the top 5 nationally with 432 victories to his credit.
Jim has now parlayed his experience learning the game from his father into a long, successful career of his own. With Jim making the trek back to his hometown, for the first time with his Spencer Tiger squad in tow, KQWC spoke with the coach who enters his 16th year at the helm in Spencer.
The Spencer Tigers will visit the Webster City Lynx Friday night at 7:30PM in a game in which the Tigers will look for their first victory of the season while the Lynx will look to move to 2 and 0. That game can be heard live on KZWC 92.9FM with pregame set for 7:10PM.
