For the second time in under a week the rains and storms wreaked havoc on local high school athletics as only a couple of local teams were able to get their games in Monday night.
Eagle Grove Eagles
The Eagle Grove Eagles teams benefitted from a matinee schedule Monday that saw them head to Northwood Kensett for a pair of games. The Eagles baseball team came in having won 3 of their last 4 games and despite giving up 19 runs to Northwood Kensett, the Eagles would pull off a 21-19 victory to improve to 7 and 9 on the season. The Eagles are idle today before hosting Class 1A’s top ranked, one loss Newman Catholic team Wednesday.
The Eagles softball team also had a successful day as they snapped a 4 game losing streak and gained their 5th win of the season. Catcher Jozey Gump went 3 for 4 at the plate with a pair of RBI’s to lead the Eagles to a 7-6 win on the road at Northwood Kensett and pitcher Hannah Beecher went all 7 innings to get the victory. Eagle Grove softball hosts a vaunted Newman Catholic team Wednesday as well.
South Hamilton Hawks
The South Hamilton Hawks summer teams were scheduled to host Saydel Monday and the baseball team would get one inning in before the weather struck and the softball team would never even get a chance. Both conference games against Saydel were postponed to a later date. Both South Hamilton teams will visit Colo-Nesco tonight.
Webster City Lynx
The Webster City Lynx summer teams never even made the trip to Hampton-Dumont High School Monday night as the weather rolled in fast and strong to postpone the pair of North Central Conference games. The matchups will be made up this Thursday with varsity starting at their usual time in Hampton after the JV games finish.
First for the Lynx however, Wednesday both teams will be back in action when they host Clarion Goldfield Dows at Webster City high school for a baseball/softball conference matchup.
Clarion Goldfield Dows Cowboys
And those Clarion Goldfield Dows softball and baseball teams were scheduled to host Algona Monday night but those games postponed to a later date as well due to weather.
High School Softball Pairings
