Webster City Lynx track and field gets underway, the Iowa Cubs get a split, and the first round of the Masters sees a familiar face atop the leader board.
Webster City Lynx Girls Track
At long last the Webster City girls track and field team got their day in the sun, or lack thereof. After having their meet at Eagle Grove Thursday cancelled the Lynx found a makeup match in the Cavanaugh Relays at Woodward-Granger High School. Any rust built up over the winter was not a factor as the Lynx jumped out of the gates to a 2nd place finish sparked by strong placings in the sprints and field events. Senior Haley Flaws took gold in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and placed 2nd in the high jump as well as anchoring the 4 by 100 relay that took silver. Lexi Nichols took bronze in her first varsity high jump while Zooey Woodle and Ashlyn Hay took 2nd and 3rd respectively in the long jump. The other leader for the Lynx also did her part as Senior Cassidy Nerland won the shot put while also taking second in the discus throw. Lynx girls track will be back in action next Thursday when they visit Perry.
